At the logistics site in Schwaig, the advanced autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) from Locus Robotics were successfully implemented for a customer from the shoe industry. The go-live marks an important step in the digitization and automation of warehouse processes.

The use of intelligent robot solutions is intended to significantly increase efficiency, precision and productivity in the warehouse. Locus Robotics’ autonomous mobile robots are specifically designed to optimize picking processes. In Schwaig, the AMRs will support the faster processing of orders and at the same time reduce the physical strain on employees. The robots navigate autonomously through the warehouse, take over the transport of cartons and bring them directly to the employees in the zones for picking. Thanks to the integration of Locus Robotics, several orders can be processed in parallel at the same time, resulting in a significant acceleration of the flow of goods.

The successful go-live in Schwaig represents a further step in ITG’s long-term automation strategy. In a further phase, the replenishment will be handled via Locus Robotics in January. Following the successful launch of the Locus Robotics AMRs at the Schwaig site, ITG plans to further scale the technology to other locations. With this project, ITG and Locus Robotics show how technological innovation and strategic partnerships can shape the future of fashion logistics.

Afterwards, they presented ITG with a small booth at DELIVER in Las Vegas. The trade fair offered valuable insights into the latest developments in retail structures and their impact on supply chain processes, with a special focus on the Fashion & Lifestyle segments. The peak period for e-commerce is just around the corner: driven by Black Friday, Black Week and Christmas sales, orders increase drastically in some cases towards the end of the year. ITG is able to provide relief at short notice with pop-up warehouses.

At its US location in Boston, Massachusetts, ITG has started logistics processing for two new customers from the fashion sector. We provide complete e-commerce fulfillment services, from incoming goods to storage, picking and shipping.

We also take care of the complete handling of returns, including grading, i.e., assessing the condition of returned items and preparing them for resale. Another component of our service portfolio that these two customers use is the carrier management operated by ITG. Here, our customers benefit from highly attractive parcel prices for both shipping and returns.

In addition to local fulfillment in the USA, we offer European shippers a very interesting returns service for their US customers: Shipments are sent directly to the USA from one of our German or European fulfillment centers. The returns are sent to the ITG Fulfillment Center in Boston. Grading and preparation take place there. This speeds up issuing credit notes for the end customer and reduces high transportation costs back to Europe. In addition, the returned items are immediately available again in the store and can also be reshipped from the local US stock.

Furthermore, ITG in Boston also handles the handling for Amazon, be it with the replenishment of goods to an Amazon warehouse or the collection of returns and old goods.

ITG’s air freight specialists recently organized a transport to the USA for an automotive supplier in order to avoid a production standstill there. The manufacturer had already relied on ITG Air & Sea’s services in the past, and the new order was the result of this satisfaction.

In this case, almost 6 tons of body parts with a volume of almost 110 cbm had to be transported to the north-east of the USA on time. The dimensions of 3.8 meters in length and 1.7 meters in height required the use of a cargo plane. ITG organized the entire transport chain: the takeover in the Rhineland was carried out by truck to Amsterdam, from where the urgently needed parts were flown directly to their destination in the USA, filling half an aircraft.
